Energy Efficiency Improvements
Client: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Location: Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge, St. Charles, AR
Project to provide design and construction services for energy efficiency improvements at the headquarters and visitor center building at Dale Bumpers White River NWR. Work included installing new building thermal insulation above the ceiling in various locations; providing five new split-system air-conditioning units with new thermostats programmed with energy-efficient set points, setbacks, and operational schedules; installing new light-emitting-diode (LED) lighting fixtures throughout the facility; and providing new 24 kW solar yard of photovoltaic cells to capture and harness energy from the sun to produce electricity at the facility. As a result of the project’s implementation, the facility is expected to save approximately 25 to 30 percent of its annual electrical energy consumption.
