Electrical System Studies

AKEA performed electrical system studies of existing campus facilities at the Orlando VAMC. The studies encompassed a total of nearly 480,000 square feet over several buildings, including the 214,925-square-foot main hospital building, the 62,523-square-foot Community Living Center, and the 148,500-square-foot Lakemont campus, which serves as the administration headquarters. AKEA provided a final report for each facility that included updated one-line diagrams, short circuit analysis, arc flash hazard analysis, voltage drop calculations, time-current coordination study and drawings, and a list of observed NEC violations, with recommended improvements and associated costs to correct deficiencies. AKEA also provided labels indicating arc flash hazard categories and appropriate personal protective equipment for each electrical device studied. This project was a task order under a VISN 8 IDIQ contract for AE services.
