Build New Research Space (Lake Nona)

Project to design approximately 22,000 square feet of research (laboratory) and support space as a second-floor expansion above the one-story SimLEARN building at the Lake Nona “Medical City” site in Orlando. The laboratories will encompass approximately 7,000 square feet of available space, with the balance of the square footage housing mechanical spaces, stairs, lobby, elevators, main corridors, public toilets, and chases for piping and ductwork. Programming and preliminary design for the second-floor expansion included space planning, functional and adjacency diagrams, and conceptual footprint alternatives for laboratory layouts, support spaces, and offices. Construction documents were prepared for architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and fire protection disciplines. The scope of work included sustainable design with a target of LEED silver. The building is designed for future vertical expansion up to five stories.
