Visitor Center Repairs

Project to replace the roof and make various repairs to the approximately 9,000-square-foot building that serves as the visitor and environmental education center at Cape Romain NWR. Exterior repairs included removing and replacing the existing standing-seam metal roof, replacing rotting fascia and gable ends, installing complete gutter and downspout system, and preparing and painting the entire exterior. Interior repairs included removing mold from all mechanical room walls, adding dehumidification units, and replacing the existing six HVAC system units. AKEA also repaired the grounding system, replaced the fire detection system, including providing strobes and horn annunciators, and provided dial-up notification connection to the Awendaw Fire Department.
