New Wildlife Observation Platform / Parking Lot Rehabilitation

Project to install a new viewing platform located along Wildlife Drive and to rehabilitate the main parking lot at J.N. “Ding” Darling NWR. The 45-foot-long viewing platform extends 15 feet over the water and supports 100 PSF live load. It is constructed of marine-grade wood pilings and composite material decking, with guardrails along the perimeter. The project included clearing and grubbing the ground to remove debris for construction of the new platform, and installing new crushed shell infill between the edge of the platform and the pavement of Wildlife Drive to create a level transition compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The work for the parking lot rehabilitation project included milling, resurfacing, and installing new asphalt pavement, establishing new parking spaces, and installing new concrete curbs and sidewalks.
