1-Million-Gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank
Client: Department of Veterans Affairs
Location: VA Medical Center, Miami, FL
Design-build project for installation and construction of a one-million-gallon elevated water tank to satisfy the water requirements for the Miami VAMC during a seven-day emergency period. The scope of the project included installation of an elevated steel food-grade holding tank, associated pumping, piping and control systems, and a water treatment system to minimize the possibility of contamination. Booster pumps provide the necessary water pressure to supply water to the upper floors of the medical center. Pumps, power, controls, and water chlorination equipment are housed within the base of the tower. The project included complete structural, storm water, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design.
