Rehabilitate Kitchen House

Project to renovate an existing historic building at ACE Basin NWR. Site work included installing a new path from the parking lot to the house, new ADA-compliant handicap ramp and handrail, and new underground electrical service with subpanels to the house from the restroom facility, approximately 300 feet away. Renovations on the house included replacing the existing shingle roof with a new 18-inch taper-sawn shake roof and installing a new mahogany wood door and frame; removing the center window, filling the void and cladding the exterior to match the existing siding, and matching the interior paneling; replacing damaged exterior siding, and painting; repairing damaged floor joists and roof rafters; refurbishing the fireplace and chimney; cleaning and repairing damaged wood wall paneling and hardwood flooring; removing the existing water closet; installing a new window; and installing new HVAC heat pump system, smoke detector, and interior electrical system.
