Construction and Design-Build
AKEA Inc. is a minority, verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small business that provides construction and design-build services to federal, public, institutional, and commercial clients. Founded in 2003 by U.S. Air Force veteran and professional engineer Anthony J. Kwan and certified in 2009 as a participant in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program, AKEA Inc. has established its reputation for providing quality service in every phase of every project, resulting in winning repeat business from its diverse client base.
Architecture and Engineering
AKEA Design Inc. was incorporated as a separate firm in 2011, when AKEA Inc. management decided to formally separate the design and construction functions of the business. The architects, engineers, and engineering technicians previously employed by AKEA Inc. officially became AKEA Design employees in 2012. They continue to provide the same design services they provided as employees of AKEA.
Anthony J. Kwan, P.E., LEED AP, is the president and sole owner of both AKEA Inc. and AKEA Design Inc. His professional background includes more than three decades of managing civil and environmental engineering projects before establishing his own construction and design businesses. As a former engineering squadron commander at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, his squadron was recognized as “Best Civil Engineering Squadron in Strategic Air Command.” He earned his undergraduate engineering degree at Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in civil engineering management at Air Force Institute of Technology.
